Grades Pre-K - 2

Our lab sessions are specially tailored to support students who are in the early stages of learning to read or are developing their reading skills. We focus on pre-reading skills crucial for laying a strong foundation in literacy. These skills include:

  1. Phonemic Awareness: Recognizing and manipulating individual sounds in words.

  2. Letter Recognition: Identifying and naming letters of the alphabet.

  3. Phonics: Understanding the relationship between letters and sounds.

  4. Vocabulary Development: Building a repertoire of words and their meanings.

  5. Print Awareness: Understanding how printed language works, including concepts like directionality and spacing.

  6. Comprehension Strategies: Developing strategies to understand and interpret text.

Our tutoring sessions are designed to engage students in activities and exercises that promote these essential pre-reading skills, setting them on the path to becoming confident and proficient readers.

  • In-person individual instruction meet weekly for 60 minutes of literacy instruction.

  • Remote individual literacy classes meet weekly for 60 minutes of literary instruction.

Our Services

  • The diagnostic assessment will identify your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses in reading, for example, phonics or vocabulary skills. This test will provide a detailed profile of the student’s current reading skills to guide us in creating lessons that target your child’s unique needs.

  • You'll embark on your literacy journey with a minimum commitment of 12 sessions, ensuring comprehensive support and progress tracking with your dedicated specialist. These bundled sessions provide the structure needed to achieve your literacy goals effectively.
